Synesthesia in music establishes a correspondence between sound and color and has been a constant debate since the 17th century. The complex nature of sound appears from ancient Greece in the school of Pythagoras in which the number becomes the configurator of harmony. Since then, different aesthetic attempts have arisen to relate color and sound that reach today's electronic procedures in contemporary music. PALABRAS CLAVE RESUMEN Sinestesia Arte Música Color Tecnología En este trabajo presentamos la relación compleja entre el sonido y el color en la creación musical a lo largo de la historia que sigue siendo fructífera en la composición musical actual. La sinestesia en música establece una correspondencia entre sonido y color y ha sido un debate constante desde el siglo XVII. La naturaleza compleja del sonido aparece desde la antigua Grecia en la escuela de Pitágoras en la que el número se convierte en configurador de la armonía. Desde entonces surgen distintos intentos estéticos para relacionar el color y el sonido que llegan hasta los procedimientos electrónicos en nuestros días en la música contemporánea.
