SIMPLE NUMBERS
(By W.R. Hounsell, Refugio-Texas-USA.

.
A Scientific Treatise) 6/22/1958.
Beginning in the dawn of culture, the following quotations are ell
attributed to Pythagoras, and taken from the research files of Hobart Huson.
To give proper significance to the text, they should be borne in mind.
QUOTES.
"The whole heaven is harmony and number"
"There is but a single cosmic substance, of which all things have been
formed",
"All things are assimilated into Number; all things accord with Number".
"The sphere is the most perfect form of solids.
of the Divine Quaternion.
It holds the principle
It's surface is fourfold the area of it's
Great Circle.".
"There is naught in this world thet is not of consequence and that does
not set in motion Cycles which affect all else".

Beside these and many other quotations, we also find that the ancient
Pythagorians swore by their “holy tetractys", which was a triangle of dots; four
dots to the side and one in the center.
The pattern is the same as the pins in a
modern bowling-alley, to clarify the picture.
In this tetractys the total number of dots is ten, the basis of our metricsystem.
In this system there is no limit to the amplifications or to the decimation
of quantity and number.
The number 4 was called "justice", because it was the product of equals
and the first square number.
In the sequence -3.4.5.--we find that 38 plus 4°
equals
52 which brings us to the Pythagorian Theorem.
"The square on the hypotenuse of a right-angled triangle, is equal to the
sum of the squares on the other two sides."
Thus it is that in modern construction
and architecture, the triangle whose sides are 3.4. and 5 units in length, will produce
the required right-angle.
Page 2

of the compass, the 4 triangles of the pyramid, the 4 seasons of the year etc, and
therefor it became sacred and mysterious to the Pythagoreans.
The number 4 became fixed in men's minds; four legs, four walls, four fingers;
four wheels; it was a natural number.
It was natural for the ancients to believe in
the four winds, the four corners of the Earth, etc.
and four sides to nearly everything we devise.
Today even, we make four corners
Our States, our fields, city blocks
and lots; our tables, chairs, beds, carpets and linens, doors and windows.
have four corners and four sides, as does this sheet of paper.even.
They all
We begin to see
why the "Tetractys" of Pythagoras was made sacred by him.
When Pythagores discovered that the surface area of a sphere was equal to
four times the area of the great circle, he reasoned that the universe must be governed
by simple number.
Then when his musical string developed a harmonious octave by simple
division, he was fairly sure of it.
|
It has taken us 2000 years of scientific study to finally realize the truth
of his theory of simple number.
As science progresses we find that our most complicated
formulae and calculations are again simplifying themselves.
Einstein's mysterious
equasions for energy, mass, velocity and relativity are simplicity themselves, in numerical
construction.
So sure was Mendelejeff that "All things accord with number" that he formulated
his simple Periodic System, in which all elements of the universe have a place and
a
number,
Hydrogen is still No. 1. and Uranium -92, for example.
But in his day only
about half of the present 100 elements were lmown ,and none of the isotopes.
So perfectly did the properties of the known elements fit into this numerical
system, that Mendelejeff was able to correctly predict almost all of the subsequent element
He provided a blank space and a number, which were already waiting for each future discover
No longer was research haphazard, Now it had a definite plan---"find number 37~Rubidium; or
find number &8-Radium" for example.

their life.
It is no atheistic coincidence thet Carbon happens to be quadravalent.
This means thet it has four arms of attraction called "bonds".
It combines powerfully
as an atom, with 4 atoms of monovalent elements such as hydrogen.
With 4 hydrogen
atoms attached, Carbon forms the molecule Methane, the chief component of natural gas.
This life-giving Carbon atom, with its 4 bonds, gives birth to myriads of
combinations with other plentiful elements such as hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and
chlorine,
It is the mother of orgenic-chemistry, the corner-stone of orgenic or carboncompounds.
More carbon compounds, have already been isolated than those of all other
elements put together, and millions more are possible.
All because of the 4 powerful
bonds of Carbon.
During the Dark Ages, Science had been
so persecuted that it had degenerated
into nothing more than legerdemain, wizardry and sorcery.
Research had to be done in
secret, under great handicap and peril, so that within the next several centuries, science
was a tangled maze of loose ends.
Not until 1803 did John Dalton decide to start all over again from the
Pythagorean "atomistic" system of the monobasic "cosmos",
Quoting the Encyclopedia
Britannica--"Dalton converted the vague atomistic theory of the ancient Greeks, into
a highly valuable scientific asset by means of the concept of "atomic weights".
The
chemical atomic theory thus initiated has been since strengthened by modern investigation,
and is today entrenched in a well-nigh impregnable position.
It seems unbelievable that 22 centuries of time could have been completely
wasted before the significance of the "cosmic"
understood.
the numerical
and "atomistic" concepts were finally
But such is the case, before the miversal Truth was again restored and
harmony of everyone and everything again realized.
We learn more from the "holy tetractys" of Pythagoras, the further we examine
the planetary structure of the tiny atom itself.
Around the protonic nucleus of the
atom, electrons travel in fixed orbits in beautiful pattern and in simple harmony.
Once again this simple harmony is the number 4.

nuclear physics.
the electronic
orbits within the atom each contain a fixed number
of electrons and the orbits are set at fixed distances from the center.
There are
also a fixed number of orbits at each distance or level (each quantum).
The element -~ Number 79 -~ is Gold, for instance.
In this atom of Gold
then there will be 79 protons in the central nucleus and 79 electrons in orbit at
the various levels.
At the first level will be 2 electrons in 1 orbit.
At the 2nd level there
will be 2 in one orbit and 6 in another.
At the 3rd level will be 2 in the first, 6
in the second and 10 in the third orbits.
At the 4th level will be 2 in the first, 6
in the 2nd, 10 in the 3rd and 14 in the 4th orbits.
This fixed system is maintained
until all 79 electrons have been accounted for, in this atom of Gold.
This Quantum Theory holds true for all elemental atoms, as against the old
Dalton atomic weights, which show several exceptions.
The whole of the electron system
is based upon the simple progression of 4, the quantum, or as the Pythagoreans believed,
"the mysterious tetractys".
The number of electrons in the successive atomic orbits increase as shown,
from 2 to 6 to 10 to 14; a simple progression of 4.
By means of the spectra of light,
heat and radiation this theory was derived, and the progress of’ the entire universe
seems
to be controlled by this system.
It might be interesting to note in passing, that Helium has an atomic weight
of 4.
It is non-flammable and inert, since it will not combine with oxygen.
It will
not combine with anything for Helium is apparently completely self-sufficient.
The
Helium atom has 2 protons plus 2 electrons; an independent entity of 4.
Thus it appears that as we advance from popular-physics into nuclear physics our astronomical formulae resolve into the simple harmonies of Pythagoras.
In advanced mathematics we apply quadratures and quadratic equasions, and the simple
Pythagorean Binary System of unities, is now the principle in all of our calculating
machines and electronic computers.
Page 5
View in PDF(opens in a new window)In popular-physics we used length, breadth and depth by which to define
a solid object.
Now, by means of the "Ath dimention", which introduces the timeelement, position is added, ard thus a more accurate definition obtains.
There seems to be little doubt, that in the final analysis, the "holy tetratrys" is indeed a Divine power.
